He and his wife Nancy Carolyn Noakes Kendig celebrated 59 years of marriage this past April. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Omer and Mary Elizabeth Kautz Kendig.
After 35 years of service, Jay retired from ADT Security, where he worked as an electrician, working primarily at the US Pentagon. Following his retirement he was employed by Millersville University for 11 years.
A U.S. Korean War veteran, he served in the US Navy, serving with NAVCOMMSTA, Guam, M.I.
He was a former member of the Church of Atonement in Wheaton, MD and a current member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, Quarryville, PA.
Jay’s hobbies varied greatly from gardening, flying, fishing, going on cruises, to storytelling.
