Mike Seydell, a former Rising Sun High School soccer player, Coach Ken Ulrich, and John Harnett helped make that happen when they planned the annual alumni soccer game.
Their goal was to create a stronger sense of community with the current players and the alumni. They also wanted a game that had meaning. Hartnett's brother, a former RSHS soccer player, was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2012. "So we decided to create the alumni game to raise money for a scholarship in his name", Seydell said in an email.
"This year we decided to expand and allow for the women's alumni to play a game as well because last years was so successful", Seydell wrote. "Last year it was just boys and the game raised around $2200", said Harnett. "Around 50 guys and around 22 girls came out to play".
