The 3rd annual Ryan Hartnett Memorial Scholarship Alumni Soccer Games are scheduled for Saturday, November 25, at Calvert Regional Park.

Admission is free but donations are gladly accepted. there will also be skills competitions and a 50/50 raffle.
All proceeds benefit the Ryan Hartnett Memorial Scholarship. Hartnett, a popular former Rising Sun High soccer standout, was killed in a 2012 automobile accident.
Scholarships worth $500 each will be awarded to graduating seniors who have earned at least one varsity letter in soccer at Rising Sun. "We hope to raise close to $5,000," said Johnny Hartnett, Ryan's brother and the coach of the Tigers girls soccer team.
The games generated $3,000 last year, $1,000 more than in the inaugural event in 2015.
"It's important for our family to be able to give back to kids," Johnny Hartnett said. "It's nice to be able to help them out a little bit. Most of them never knew my brother so this keeps his memory alive in the community which is what it's about for my family and I. it's pretty awesome."
The Hartnett family is grateful to all the people who help make the event possible. Rising Sun boys soccer coach Ken Ulrich was instrumental in creating the event and helps organize the games. Former Tiger Mike Seydell helps spread the word via social media.
"Both have been a big help," Johnny Hartnett said. "They have done a lot for us and my parents and I are very appreciative."
Johnny Hartnett also expressed gratitude to Cecil County Parks and Recreation for use of the venue and Jason Yates of Residential Mortgage Services, title sponsor for the second straight year.
