Members of Robert Fulton Fire Company's auxiliary have 216 gallons of homemade sauerkraut and more than 1,000 pounds of pork to feed the people who will attend the annual New Year's Day dinner.
There was hot coffee, but the donuts didn't make it Saturday morning. Nor did a few volunteers who couldn't get out of their icy driveways.
But about 20 people braved slippery roads to place wreaths on more than half a hundred veterans' graves at the Mt. Eden Lutheran Cemetery early Saturday afternoon, December 17.
When he was looking for a place to practice dentistry, Dr. Michael S. McMullen considered Chambersburg and Shippensburg.
"But they were a bit too far to drive, so I asked Dr. [Roger] Brown if he could use some help," Dr. McMullen recalled last week.
So the Quarryville native and Solanco graduate came home to practice his new profession.
The newly-published genealogy of the Andrew Jackson family is a work that has been in progress for more than two decades.
"Joanne [Weaver] and I have been doing this for 22 years," said Donna McCool.

Santa will be making a stop in Quarryville before Christmas Eve.
He will be visiting the Southern End Community Association, Park Ave., for his third annual Cookies with Santa event. He will visit from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 19.

It’s tough planning Solanco’s Minithon, but it’s all worth it.
That's how seniors Kelly Cook and Emily Duvall and a small committee of students feel about the project they are planning for early next year.
Last year, volunteers didn't know what to expect when they decided to revive an old tradition. "We had done it years ago and we got to talking about it. That's when we decided we would start it up again," said Lori Swayne.
There will be only one performance of Union Presbyterian Church's annual Christmas pageant this year.
The pageant, a tradition at the Kirkwood church for 37 years, will be staged at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 11.
Prior to the service, Girl Scouts from the Bart-Colerain troop will sing around the Christmas tree while guests are being seated.
