"We thought we would get together and encourage people from the outskirts to come to Quarryville and look at what Quarryville has to offer," said Chip Hassler. "We're also reaffirming our commitment to local residents."
The businesses are calling their three-day event Discover Quarryville.
Ferguson & Hassler Supermarket, C.R. Lapp's Family Restaurant, Stoner-Wade Ford, Good's Store, and Martin's Appliances are organizing the event.
Hassler, Diana Wade, Christy Lapp, Derrick Kreider, and Glendon Strite of Good's Store came up with the promotion.
The sponsors will offer special sales on Thursday, April 12, Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14. Each of the merchants will hold a sale during those three days.
Good's Store will offer specials specific to the firm's Quarryville Store. Ferguson & Hassler will host a spring meat sale and a whoopie pie sale featuring Shady Maple baked goods.
Stoner-Wade will feature a ride and drive event to chauffeur people to the participating businesses. It will also have prizes and, on Saturday, an event to celebrate the Ford Mustang's birthday.
Lapp's will have a discount breakfast buffet and a luncheon and dinner special all three days. It will also offer a free breakfast buffet to anyone who buys a $30 gift card.
Martin's will offer free food and drinks and provide demonstrations of wood pellet grills.
The merchants are also sponsoring a sweepstakes. Official entry forms will be available at each merchant. Contestants must get a stamp from each of the participating merchants and then drop the completed form at any of the five locations before the end of the business day on Saturday, April 14. While an official form must be used, no purchase is necessary to enter.
Five winning entries will be drawn at random following the promotion. Each winner will receive a $100 gift card from each of the sponsors.
"We hope this is the inaugural event and we will do more in the future," Wade said.
