"We've added trunk or treat this year," said organizer Lori Singles.
Trunk or treat will be held at the Quarryville fire station following the parade. It will be hosted by members of Memorial United Methodist Church.
"We thought it would be a good idea to work together," he said. The church's congregation will provide the cars and the candy for the trunk or treat portion of the event.
Members of the Quarryville fire company revived the parade last year.
"We had no idea how many kids would turn out," organizer Loie Swayne said. "We ended up with about 300 with their parents."
The community had sponsored a parade for years before discontinuing the celebration following 1995's event.
"We have some businesses participating and we're still open to adding others," Singles said. "If anyone is interested, please let us know." Interested business owners should call Liz Henry at 717-330-0728.
Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 20. The parade will start from the parking lot of Quarryville Elementary School, S. Hess St., at 6 p.m. Participants will go north on Hess St. to State St. and then turn east to go to the fire station.
Members of the church will host a trunk or treat at the fire station.
The parade is open to children age 12 and younger. Children age six and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children are encouraged to wear costumes.
Fire police will close the streets along the route during the parade. The fire company will provide transportation back to the elementary school after the event is over.
The parade will be held rain or shine.
