Three paintings by Charles X. Carlson were donated by the late Diane Gicker. Two other Carlson paintings have been donated by other area residents.
Works of other local artists will also be included in the headliners section of the sale. They include a watercolor of the Robert Fulton House by Steve Roka and a farm scene by Tom Regan.
The sale's headliner category includes the more expensive items going up for sale, said Bollinger. That grouping will also include vacation stays on the Susquehanna and at Fenwick Island and two stays in Ocean City, Md. There will also be gourmet meals, high-end gift certificates, and folding Adirondack chairs.
Randall Ranck has volunteered to be the auctioneer.
The auction is the library board's main fundraiser.
"We had a phenomenal year last year," Bollinger said of the 2017 sale. "After our expenses were paid, we gave $18,000 to the library."
Although the board does not have a set goal for this year's auction, "We would like to do at least that well or better," Bollinger said.
The preview auction will be held at the library, 357 Buck Rd., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10. People attending the preview can make absentee bids for the headliner items to be sold at the regular auction. One of the Carlson paintings and several gift certificates will be among the items sold at the preview.
The main sale will be at the Hoffman Building, Solanco Fairgrounds, Quarryville, on Saturday, April 14.
The preview, breakfast, and bidder registration will begin at 8 a.m. Sale of children's and household items and the youth services mini auction will begin at 9 a.m. Plants, shrubs, trees, and gardening items will be sold at 10 a.m. followed by the headliners at 11 a.m. Collectibles, antiques, general merchandise, and gift certificates will be sold at 11:45 a.m.
The sale will also include several lots of antique and vintage postcards donated by a local dealer.
