The Solanco boys’ basketball team struggled last season, winning only one section game and four overall, but head coach Scott Long is optimistic that this season will put more Ws in the column.
“We want to play fast at all times and pressure teams defensively,” said the coach, who enters the 2018-19 season with a career record of 26 and 40.
“Actually, we have eight guys competing for stating spots,” said Long.
With the L-L League welcoming Octorara and Lancaster Country Day, there are now five sections in the league.
Solanco, Garden Spot, Cocalico, Manheim Central, and last year’s league champion, Lampeter-Strasburg, competing for the top spot in Section III.
Assisting Long this year will be Caleb Graves, David Long, and Dave Baker.
Solanco does have two players currently playing at the collegiate level. Dylan Hastings is at Lafayette and Robbie McHugh is playing at Penn State Berks.
