There are plenty of pharmacies, medical facilities, and doctor's offices which will be administering flu shots this year.
The Cecil County Health Department will not be one of them.
"We can't compete with the pharmacies," Garrity said.
She also predicted that the state and county are facing what she classifies as an "unremarkable" flu season.
For those who want to find a place to get the vaccine, go to the Cecil County Health Department website and there is a Flu Vaccine Finder
While the health department won't be a site to get flu shots, local schools will again be offering FluMist.
Help prevent the spread of the flu by practicing the following measures:
• Stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or use your elbow when coughing or sneezing. Wash your hands right after coughing or sneezing. This may prevent those around you from getting sick.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.
• High-risk patients are urged to contact their health care provider if they get flu-like symptoms for consideration of anti-viral therapy.
