You can help keep the Town of Cecilton running without making a big time commitment.
Town officials are seeking volunteers who will serve on a pair of town boards. Currently, an alternate is needed for the election board. Both a member and an alternate are needed for the Board of Appeals.
In order to serve on the Board of Elections, you must have lived in the town for a year.
You also have to be a registered voter on the county roll or the town only roll. Elections are held annually on the first Monday in May from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Election Board members are paid $100 for working on election day. They may also need to attend a free meetings or training prior to election day.
The Cecilton Board of Appeals meets once a year or once every two years to consider variances or special exceptions.
This job is strictly volunteer. In order to be appointed to the board, you must live in town. No two members of the same family are appointed to this board.
Anyone who would like to fill these posts is asked to submit a letter of interest to town hall.
Cecilton Mayor Joe Zang talked about the role of volunteers in the town. "You can't run a town without them," said Zang.
