All eyes in Charlestown are on the auction block.
On July 8, the former Avalon Yacht Basin Marina goes up for sale. What happens with that property is expected to have a lasting impact on the town.
Their plans did not come to fruition and now the property, formerly owned by Bud Knapp, is back on the market.
"They (the auctioneering company) has held open houses. We'd like to see it be a marina or a nice waterfront restaurant," said Pumpaly. "It could accommodate a number of homes - high end town houses. There's a lot you could do with it."
The parcel of land contains a former store and a metal shop building. There is a house on the property which is not included in the sale. That home, is in the Maryland Environmental Trust. Whomever buys the land receives first right of refusal of the home should it go on the market. Charlestown has six parcels of land that are in the environmental trust.
The minimum bid for the property is $395,000.

• Charlestown is on the short list for a community parks and playgrounds funding. If they get the funding, the hope is to develop a vacant lot into a walking trail and playground.
