At the end of January, Chesapeake City Mayor Dean Geracimos announced that the town would be creating a Tourism department which will operate out of town hall.
Miners is very familiar with the town. She has been doing promotion and graphic design for the town as both a volunteer and on a freelance basis for several years. "I am excited to join Mayor Geracimos, his staff, and council members, plus area business owners in helping to expand Chesapeake City's marketing efforts," said Miners.
She brings experience in marketing and promoting tourism to the post. She was formerly the advertising and marketing director for Peddler's Village, a shopping and destination complex in Bucks County, Pennsylvania for more than 17 years. She was also an appointed member of the Bucks County Tourist Commission for three terms.
She worked as Advertising Design Director at Philadelphia magazine for seven years. She was also Marketing Director of Tuckerton Seaport on the Jersey Shore and was spokesperson for the Barnegat Bay Estuary Program.
She has lived in Chesapeake City since 2003.
"My husband, Bill, and I, had been coming to the Eastern Shore for years as boaters who loved sailing the Chesapeake. We kept our boat on the Sassafras River and we almost always stopped in Chesapeake City on the way home," said Miners. "We fell in love with the town, its history, its charm. We loved the walkable village atmosphere, and really enjoyed the shopping and the restaurants."
She said she is looking forward to her new position.
