"They are a good group of students, they are good citizens, and good academically. And they know how to have fun," said Rising Sun High School principal Anne Gellrich regarding the Class of 2013.
They also know how to get free money. The members of the class received $3.9 million in scholarship offers. Many of the students are staying close to home and are headed for Cecil College. More than a half dozen have committed to enlisting in branches of the military.
Other popular choices among class members are University of Delaware. State schools, such as UMBC, UMCP, Towson University, Frostburg State University, and Salisbury University were also selected. McDaniel College, Washington College, were also chosen by students.
Several students will also pursue a technical education at Delaware Technical and Community College, York Technical Institute, Midlands Technical College, and Williamson Free Trade School. In Pennsylvania, Kutztown University, Messiah College, West Chester University, Millersville University, and Penn State were chosen by students.
Other colleges and universities which will be attended by Rising Sun High School Class of 2013 members are: North Carolina State at Raleigh, Seton Hall University, Mount Ida College, University of Northwestern Ohio, Clemson University, James Madison University, West Virginia University, Harford Community College, North Carolina Wesleyan College, Goldey Beacom College, York College, Full Sail University, Allegany College, Shenandoah University, University of Kentucky, American University, Wesley College, James Madison University, Hofstra University, Potomac State University, Rutgers University, Neumann University, Susquehanna University, Converse College, and Wilmington University One student will attend the Baltimore School of Massage Therapy
