Twenty pounds of spaghetti, meatballs, and marinara sounds like a meal fit for a king.
Instead, it was a mess on the tarp-covered lawn outside Spready Oak Country cafe.
If their students did things like this, they'd probably be in trouble.
But it was all in good fun wrapping up the school year with a round of friendly competition. Conowingo teachers created their own The Amazing Race contest last week.
"It's our end of the year celebration and team building," said assistant principal Karen Adair.
Before the competition began, paraprofessional Darla Foust was enthusiastic. "I'm excited. We get to cut loose and have fun with our coworkers," said Foust.
"I'm super excited," said kindergarten teacher Holly Kunkel.
Before the games began, each team was asked to bring supplies - four quarters in change for each team member, water shoes, goggles, and a towel.
They then headed out to compete at various locations in the community. They started at Conowingo Elementary, then headed to Spready Oak Country Cafe, Rising Sun Car Wash, Johnston's Liquors, Veterans Park, Kilby Cream, BCF 24, and Hunter's Sale Barn.
The remaining challenges were wrapped up at the home of a teacher which was also where the school's end of the year party was held.
The first challenge, in a field at the school, had teachers hitting a ball with another ball while the first ball was strapped around their waists and encased in pantyhose.
Other challenges had them singing, wading, and playing at a playground.
The winning team members are Charlene Shriver, Mary Amos, Cathy Dvorak, Terri Fisher, and Joan Butler. The prize is bragging rights until the next time the school hosts Amazing Race.
