Silas D. Richardson of Schoolhouse Lane was arrested in New Jersey on Monday night.
He is accused of murdering his brother, George Carlton Richardson Sr., 87, of Neptune Township, NJ.

At the request of the Neptune Township Police Department, Cecil County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Silas Richardson’s home on Schoolhouse Lane Conowingo to check on George's welfare of George. Investigators learned that George Richardson had responded to Silas Richardson’s residence to provide assistance to him concerning Silas’ wife’s death last week.
Upon arrival, Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies observed an unlocked front door. Deputies entered the residence and immediately detected a strong odor of bleach emanating from the residence. Deputies also located several areas of uncontaminated blood inside the residence. When the deputies searched the outside perimeter of the residence, they located the body of a deceased male in the back yard.
Deputies observed that the victim suffered from multiple stab wounds to different areas of his body. he body had been covered in an attempt to disguise the location.
Silas D. Richardson was taken into custody by the Neptune Police Department. Cecil County Sheriff’s Office investigators have charged Silas D. Richardson with first degree murder, second degree murder, robbery, theft over $10,000, reckless Endangerment, first degree assault, and second degree assault.
Silas Richardson is being held in New Jersey pending extradition to Cecil County, Maryland.
