Just over a month after a fire damaged multiple businesses in North East Plaza, one company has announced that they will rebuild.
Jeff Thorpe, Plans Reviewer for the Cecil County Department of Permits and Inspections, said that Rite Aid officials have submitted plans to rebuild. "They are putting it back the way it was. It will look new but it will not change," said Thorpe.
A team of Deputy State Fire Marshals along with Special Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have been investigating the cause of the fire which originated at Frank's Pizza.
Rite Aid isn't the only business choosing to remain in the county. Two businesses have announced new locations at Perryville Outlet Center. Sue Z's Bridal Shop and Crossfit Hatem will now be in that center.
The center isn't the only business in Perryville that is changing. Thorpe said that officials from Ikea have submitted plans for a "massive" solar power system installation.
"We're getting a good bit of solar for residential. In the past year, solar has taken off. We've never had it (to this degree) before. It's supposed to be a good return on your investment," said Thorpe. "If you have the money, it's a good investment."
