Five months after taking the job as Rising Sun's water and sewer commissioner, Lyn Dugger has been removed from the position.
Dugger was voted out of the post by fellow commissioners George Walker, Bernie Chiominto, and Travis Marion last week.
Board members stated that they got an opinion about removing Dugger from town attorney Jay Gullo on December 10.
"Why do you think I should not be water and sewer commissioner? I have a degree in chemistry and engineering experience," asked Dugger.
Marion said he just thinks Walker would be better in the job. "He attends meetings. He's on site. He keeps the board informed and has time," said Marion. He also said Dugger and Mayor Bob Fisher moved forward with exploring other options for water rather than sign onto the plan with Chester Water Authority.
"We should have the best person with superior qualifications," said Fisher.
"I have to defend myself here," said Dugger. She also said that Walker, Chiominto, and Marion brought forth a water and sewer resolution last month without keeping her in the loop.
"I welcomed the opportunity to be your water and sewer commissioner. But these three (Walker, Chiominto, and Marion) runs things," said Dugger.
Walker said Chiominto asked him to take over water and sewer two months ago. Walker said he wasn't comfortable taking the post until Dugger and Fisher started looking at new options for water.
Dugger said she tried to talk with her fellow board members said that she tried to bring up an alternative water plan and was "shut down".
