Out with the county seat, in with the county center.
Elkton Mayor Rob Alt is looking at ways to market the town which he governs. In doing so, he has decided that the town should no longer be known as Cecil's county seat.
"I like the concept of it. We are the head of the Elk and the center of the community," said Alt.
In other business from the Town of Elkton:
• State Comptroller Peter Franchot is coming to Elkton after he was invited by the mayor. The plan is for Franchot to eat a meal at Lyon's Pharmacy.
• Although the celebration of the cherry blossoms won't be held until next year, the trees along North Street and Railroad Avenue are in bloom. The trees were planted using reforestation funds and Mayor Alt plans that Elkton will be a cherry blossom destination for visitors next spring.
