After more than a year of being suspended with pay, Adam Dominick is no longer on the Rising Sun payroll.
Chief Chip Peterson confirmed Monday morning that as of August 28, Dominick, a former Rising Sun police officer, is no longer employed by the town. The chief would not comment further stating that it is a personnel matter.
Dominick was contacted via telephone on Monday morning. He declined comment regarding this matter. He also declined comment on the status of the K-9 that was assigned to him.
"We do not have a K-9 program here. It's something for the future," said Chief Peterson.
In other business from the Town of Rising Sun, the filing deadline for the town election is this Friday, September 18 at 6 p.m. There are two commissioner seats up for election. One of the seats was held by George Walker who resigned his seat.
The other seat is currently held by Jennifer Scully. Scully said last week that she is uncertain if she will seek another term.
As of Monday morning, Joe Shephard had filed for one of the four-year terms. Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens, must have lived in the town for a year before the election, and must have a clean criminal history except for minor traffic violations.
The election will be held Monday, October 19 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. The last day to register to vote in the election is also Friday.
