There's hearts of golds riding those Harleys.
This year, the Ladies of Harley Club from Chesapeake Harley Davidson adopted two area families for Christmas - one in Harford County and a second in Cecil. On Saturday the group delivered to a single mom and her six children in Perryville.
Linda Haske of Rising Sun worked to coordinate the event this year. "On Saturday morning we will meet and load everything. We go to the dealership, some riders and some in cars. In a parade we drive to the house. It's all about the kids. We have lots of gifts for the kids, some gifts for the mom, and everything they need for Christmas dinner and more with food," said Haske. About 75 people participated this year.
Last Thursday, about 30 group members gathered in an area home preparing for the special delivery. They wrapped gifts in an assembly line.
"I like knowing I'm helping a family in need," said Debbie Fabrizio, who has worked at the event for several years.
Cheryle Gerdes, and her husband John, were wrapping gifts. "The enjoyment of giving to families in need this time of year is great. Helping families that have needs makes it feel more like Christmas," said Cheryle Gerdes. "That's the Christmas spirit- doing for others."
Chesapeake Harley Davidson supports the group by hosting collections for food and other items. The group also hosts vendor parties and raffles to raise funds to help those in need.
