Scott Ponsell knows that eighth graders are just a few years from owning
their own cars.
Ponsell, Service Manager at Ramsey Ford of Elkton, was doing double duty
talking about the car business and jobs students could find there.
That's one of the ways I can reach out. There are so many opportunities in the car business," said Ponsell.
Ponsell and others spoke at Career Day at Perryville Middle School last week. In additional to jobs in the auto field, they also got a peak at medical jobs, the field of electricity and more.
Joe Krummel showed off some of the ballistic vests he helps design. He also let students try on the gear. He explained why he took time out from his work day. "I have been working out of my home since 1995. I coach high school
sports and I make my own schedule. I'm a youth leader at Grace Bible Chapel. I love middle school kids," said Krummel.
The goal for the students was to find out the job title, responsibilities, educational requirements, needed skills, and more from each of the speakers. After Career Day, students were asked to reflect on what they learned.
