She's also confident a Minecraft program will be a big hit when it debuts at the library Saturday, January 24, from 2-3:30 p.m.
According to Wikipedia, Minecraft is a video game that "allows players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, gathering resources, crafting, and combat."
"Every child knows what it is and I'm trying to find out more about it." said Holbrook.
She knows Minecraft is a creative game which can be played independently. "We're doing something a little different," she said. "We're offering a program where they can work together in teams to make it more social."
Library schedules are prepared a few months in advance so another Minecraft program will be held at the Rising Sun library on March 4.
If the first two programs are as successful as Holbrook expects, a Minecraft program will be held every other month.
"We'll see how it goes," Holbrook said.
The Elkton Central Library held a Minecraft program for teens. Rising Sun's program is for children between the ages of 8-13.
Registration is required and can be done by calling 410-658-4025, stopping by the library at 111 Colonial Way, or visiting the website www.cecil.ebranch.info.
