Ron Carter is back where he started.
In the early 1990s, Carter worked for the Town of North East's water department.
In July, North East hired Carter and four other former Severn Trent employees, all of whom had been working in the town but for the private firm.
North East town administrator Melissa Cook-MacKenzie said by taking the water operations back under the town umbrella, the town expects to save an estimated $140,000 the first year.
Carter, who is now the town's water superintendent, and holds a Class 4 water operator's license, has worked for the department for a quarter century. "Am I glad to be back working for the town? Sure am. I don't think the residents will notice any difference in the services. This is just more streamlined," said Carter. "This is the same group with the same beliefs. I am very happy to come back."
