After more than six years on the job in North East, Stephanie Racine-Dean has new responsibilities.
Racine-Dean, who was a utility clerk for the town, was promoted last Thursday to the position of head clerk. That means that she will now supervise two full time and one part time town staffers and pick up some additional duties. The Town of North East has been in a reorganizational phase since October when longtime Town Clerk Anne Fazio retired. Ken Natale was hired as the Director of Finance and Administration for the Town of North East. Now Racine-Dean will pick up some of Fazio's other jobs including issuing permits for the town pavilion and having input into the office operations.
She is enthusiastic about her new job.
"It's exciting. I have a lot of people around me who help," said Racine-Dean. She said she gets plenty of help from town administrator Melissa Cook-MacKenzie, town planner Betsy Vennell and Mayor Bob McKnight. She also said that Fazio passed on a lot of her knowledge prior to retiring.
Racine-Dean said she enjoys working in her hometown of North East.
"I'm back to my roots. It's neat to see the process," she said. "It's neat coming back to where you grew up. I have a lot of good mentors, especially Melissa."
