The Greater Perryville Chamber of Commerce has a new leader and plans for the future.
A few weeks ago, Chamber President Matt Roath announced that the chamber may have to "go dormant" if new leadership wasn't found. Roath led the organization for five years - a year longer than he had intended.
Heitz takes over January 1. He said he is committed to Perryville and lived in the town during his middle and high school years. "The opportunity arose and this is a way for me to give back to the community that I came from," said Heitz.
He is excited that the chamber's anchor events – Spring Fling and Autumn Fest – will continue. Heitz also plans to resume holding monthly chamber meetings. "I have a lot of ideas to promote business and the community," he said.
Roath said he is "ecstatic and thrilled" that Heitz has signed on as president. "He's an active guy and we are going to be a great combination," said Roath. "It should be a seamless transition."
