Mayor Jim Eberhardt fondly remembers the year that Perryville first fielded Little League teams.
Eberhardt was a player and there were no girls allowed.
Perryville Little League is marking its 60th anniversary with a season of celebrations.
The anniversary season kicks off this weekend.
On Friday night, April 10, there will be an Old Timer's Softball Game. Anyone who played from the league from it's founding until the present may join the game. There is no need to sign up. Just show up at Trego Field (behind Perryville Town Hall) prior to the 7 p.m. start time and join the fun.
The annual Little League Parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 11. All past league presidents and players are invited to participate in the parade. Line up is at Perryville Middle School by 9:30 a.m.
On Saturday, April 18, the league will host the 60th Anniversary Bull Roast from 5-10 p.m. at Minker Banquet Hall at Perryville Fire Company. This event will feature a silent auction of rare sports memorabilia, an awards ceremony honoring past presidents and league members, dancing to a DJ and more.
