Cheyanne Bigley, Christopher Jentzsch, and Trevor Korn are ready for their final bow.
The trio, seniors at Rising Sun High School, are gearing up for their final performance on the stage where they all feel at home.
The three, along with junior Matthew Hayden, and sophomore Heather Bounds will be the featured soloists in the May 20, 7 p.m., concert in the school auditorium.
The work, "Mozart's Requiem" with ballet, will feature the soloists, choir, high school orchestra, and well as musicians from both the Delaware and Baltimore symphonies.
And while there will be special guests on stage and in the pit, the audience will feature the most honored guests of all. The school is inviting veterans and active duty service personnel and their families to attend the show. Anderson said they are reaching out to Veteran's organizations to spread the word.
He said "Mozart's Requiem" is a fitting tribute for those who serve. "He (Mozart) knew he was ill when he was writing it. He knew there was a chance of not finishing it. There is a connection with those who serve and are not sure if they will survive," said Anderson.
The students have been working on this music since last summer. Twice, the concerts where it was to be performed were cancelled. "It was like they never put it down," said Anderson.
A goodwill offering will be taken at the concert. Anyone who would like to donate $10, may have a listing in the show's program. Deadline for that is Friday, May 16. Contact Rising Sun High School if interested.
