On Thursday, September 25 at approximately 10 a.m., Rising Sun police, Cecil Sheriff's deputies, and Maryland state troopers responded to Martin's, 24 Rising Sun Towne Center, for a reported armed robbery in the store's parking lot.
The officers learned that the assailant allegedly approached the victim in the parking lot as the victim was exiting her vehicle. The assailant insinuated that she had a weapon and demanded the victim's purse. The victim refused and the suspect forcibly ripped the purse from her hands.
Shortly before 11 a.m., a state trooper located the vehicle traveling on Ebenezer Church Road near Rising Sun. The vehicle was stopped by state police and two sheriff's deputies at Ebenezer Church Road and Biggs Highway. Ashley Nicole Blakeley, 27, of the 500 block of Biggs Highway, Rising Sun, was arrested without incident and charged with armed robbery, robbery, and theft under $1,000. She is being held at the Cecil County Detention Center on $100,000 bond.
The victim, an 85-year-old female sustained minor cuts in the incident. She identified the suspect.
