Tuesday, May 6, county officials approved a $250,000 budget amendment which paved the way for work on the track which was deemed unfit for competition earlier in the season.
By Wednesday morning, May 7, workers from the contract company, American Tennis Courts, were on site surveying. Last Thursday, they were ripping up the old track and making way for new asphalt.
The scope of work will include removing and repairing the base asphalt. That work is expected to be completed before graduation ceremonies in June. The stadium and track are used during the school's commencement exercises. After graduation, the rubberization process will be completed.
