A walk to remember.
The lives of homicide victims and many others will be remembered during the sixth annual Memorial Wall and Walk in memory of Cecil County's victims of homicide.
The event will be held on April 15 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the unity garden at Cecil's Circuit Court building, 129 East Main Street, Elkton.
At least seven new names will be added to the wall and walk in addition to the names that were already in place during past years. "People come and talk about their loved ones. We encourage people to bring pictures for the wall. Or they can bring a framed photograph that we will set up for the day," said Rotolo.
There will be refreshments, which are donated by local businesses and volunteers. Jeff Pierce is returning to provide music. Local florists will also donate flowers for the memorial.
"What I hear more often than not about this event is that someone gets it. They know how I feel and they remember," said Rotolo.
This event is free and open to the public. "Our community is so inundated with homicides. This is a place where you can remember," she said.
For more information or to submit a name for the memorial call 410-996-5342. You may also submit names of lost loved ones by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
While Rotolo is gearing up for this event, she is also looking to next year. For the second time, Cecil County will host the Statewide Victim's Memorial. That event will likely be held in Perryville Community Park.
